Establishing the main respiratory diagnosis (based
on NANDA diagnostic classification) for a patient
with Acute Respiratory Failure (ARF), the current
situation about main topics for respiratory management
will be briefly described together with the
safety of nursing practice procedures. The three
main respiratory nursing diagnoses related with an
intubated patient because of ARF are taken into
account in order to review the main areas and
procedures in which guidelines should be implemented.
We analysed the classifications of nursing
interventions and nursing outcomes related with
each nursing diagnosis and the knowledge available
to answer the questions regarding the most
effective intervention for each specific situation.
