History
It was first started by Norman Borlaug, an American scientist who interested in agriculture. In the 1940s, he began conducting research in Mexico and developed new disease resistance high-yield varieties of wheat. By combining Borlaug's wheat varieties with new mechanized agricultural technologies, Mexico was able to produce more wheat than was needed by its own citizens, leading to become an exporter of wheat by the 1960s. Before using these varieties, the country was importing almost half of its wheat supply.
Due to the success of the Green Revolution in Mexico, its technologies spread worldwide after 1950s
There are many good things about technology from Green Revolution. Here is what we summarized.
The first one, we use pesticide to control pests from destroying our crops.
Second, we use fertilizers to make our crop grow faster.
Third, we use irrigation system to provide enough water for our crops.
Fourth, we also use water system in our fields so we don’t have to water them ourselves.
Fifth, we use machineries to help us reducing time and farming more easier.
However nothing is perfect, everything has both good side and bad side. So do Green Revolution, it is not only has a good side, it is also has a bad side too.
The first one,
