“Once I was in the Gynecological out-patient department,
some female patients were shy and answered the
medical staffs’ questions in a low voice, whereas the staff
would ask them in a loud and impatient tone which
made patients uneasy and embarrassed. Observing this
uncaring incidents, I talked with my mentor about this
negative experience, she encouraged me to analyze this incident
deep, and we had a critical dialogue concerning this
negative experience. Then I think if it was me that received
the patients, I would had asked in a low and soft
voice, which could make them in a more comfortable condition.
Such uncaring experience make me understand the
true meaning of ‘sensitivity to human suffering’, and can
facilitate the learning about caring. Think again, maybe
you have the same experience” (Group 3)
