Behind my house there is a large forest. It isn’t particularly beautiful. Neither is it particularly ugly, but it is very quiet and good for cycling in.
I enjoy cycling very much. Simply cycling is a pleasant experience, but I also like the physical challenge it gives me. The fight to climb a hill. The buzz descending that same hill as fast as possible without becoming separated from my bike. The wonderful feeling of establishing a physical rhythm that means I can travel smoothly, efficiently and quickly along a flat road. And the freedom it gives – bikes can go where cars can’t and get there quicker than walking. And of course they are more environmentally friendly than cars.
As I said earlier the forest behind my house is very quiet. I have been cycling in it since the beginning of November last year and I have only seen three people in it. I have actually seen more deer than people. As well as wild pigs and a beautiful eagle – and they have seen a human in black Lycra bottoms and a florescent green jacket.
What do you do for a physical challenge? Cycling, gym, or maybe yoga?
I look forward to hearing from you soon.
Warm wishes
Gary
