Rice is a unique source of c-oryzan

Rice is a unique source of c-oryzanol and tocols. Tocols exist in
eight forms, including the four homologs (a, b, c, d) of both tocopherol
and tocotrienol (Chen & Bergman, 2005). Several studies
have been conducted in raw whole rice, BR, germinated BR and rice
bran for both pigmented and non-pigmented varieties (Kim,
Chung, & Lim, 2014; Min, McClung, & Chem, 2011;
Shammugasamy, Ramakrishnan, Ghazali, & Muhammad, 2014).
Germinated BR contained 8 tocols at various concentrations (Ng,
Huang, Chen, & Su, 2013). Chinese BR is composed of 6 tocols
including a-tocopherol, b-tocopherol, a-tocotrienol, c-tocopherol,
d-tocotrienol and c-tocotrienol (Lin, Huang, & Ng, 2015). Whilst
only four forms of tocols were found in BR as well as in Brazilian
rice including a-tocopherol, a-tocotrienol, c-tocopherol, and
c-tocotrienol (Pascual et al., 2013). Gamma-oryzanol is plant sterol
that can be found abundantly in rice, BR and rice bran. These two
