in this age of modernity and progress, human beings are so occupied with chasing after their ambitions that they are willing to even sacrifice their life and wealth so as to obtain those things. this despite the fact that what they are chasing after are merely worldly materials. for those are trapped in such a situation, it is as if they have made their desires their own 'god' whom they listen to and obey all the time. this can also be categorised as syirik and can affect their iman.
