The Keystone Pipeline System is an oil pipeline system in Canada and the United States, commissioned in 2010. It runs from the Western Canadian Sedimentary Basin in Alberta to refineries in Illinois and Texas, and also to oil tank farms and an oil pipeline distribution center in Cushing, Oklahoma.[2
The prototype uRep has been tested in controlled
circumstances and has not yet been used in a disaster
scenario. However, it has been demonstrated publically, and
preliminary discussions with utility companies have resulted
in the identification of shared goals and concerns. Customer
safety is a primary goal of any public utility, and the use of
any community-based app, such as uRep, must encourage
safety first.
User privacy is also an important issue, although
different cultures may have different restrictions. In the U.S.
specific outage information could be reported by individuals,
with geotagging details, and more general repair information
by geographic community could be shared publically.
