It is thus possible that mass
transfer effects are potentially not fully unaccounted for in the
extraction of the published rate data. The work of Noureddinni
and Zhu [21] discusses the role of mass transfer in their observed
rate data and assume that these are eliminated due to the formation
of single phase during the progress of the reaction. Based on our results
it may still be possible that given that the starting mixture for
the methyl esterification comprises two phases, and that the final
mixture comprises two liquid phases, mass transfer may still play
an important during the progress reaction.
