Each test was administered on a single day by members of the committee. The arithmetic test consisted of the ten questions to be done in 70 minutes, which the committee considered insufficient time for most students but which meant they would be occupied the whole period. The other tests, on topics such as history, geography, and grammar, took an hour each. The arithmetic test was administered in 18 schools to 4 to 26 students in a school (Caldwell & Courtis, 1925, p. 28).
