According to the present invention and forming a primary objective thereof, a cooling system for a turbocharger mechanism is provided which maintains a cooling function even though the vehicle engine has been shut off whereby to carry away residual heat which otherwise may damage seals and portions of the turbocharger mechanism.
A more particular object of the present invention is to provide a cooling system of the type described which is controlled by a pressure responsive mechanism in the main cooling system so as to be placed in a condition for operation when the engine is stopped, and also including temperature responsive means in the turbocharger mechanism which functions to control operation of the auxiliary pump under certain temperature conditions, namely, temperature conditions at which it is desired that the cooling system be operated.
Another object is to provide a cooling system for turbocharger mechanisms of the type described which is simplified in construction and inexpensive to manufacture and install on new or existing systems.
The invention will be better understood and additional objects and advantages will become apparent from the following description taken in connection
with the accompanying drawings which illustrate a preferred form of the device.
