The first stage of the design process is to analyze exactly what is needed. Asking our list of questions will help us to define what is required. Adults will use the glove, so it will be designed to suit an adult hand. They will use it to remove hot pots and pans, so it will have to protect them from the heat. They will use it in the kitchen, so it must be hygienic. It will be used all day, so it needs to be durable. The next stage is to look at similar gloves and to look at how they are made and used. We could use surveys or questionnaires with potential customers. We could interview cooks or parents. We could look in books or catalogues. We could observe people using oven gloves and search the Internet. It is important to write down the findings of this research.
