From experimental investigations, the
gradual growth of flank wear for multilayer coated insert indicates steady machining without any
premature tool failure by chipping or fracturing. Abrasion is found to be the dominant wear
mechanisms in hard turning. Tool life of multilayer coated carbide inserts has been found to be 31
minute under parametric conditions
The results show that the feed rate was the most impact factor controlling the cutting force and surface roughness produced.
The results show that the cutting speed and feed rate was the most impact factor the cutting machine tool and surface roughness produced.
Applied Taylor tool life equation indicated that the insert tools followed by the cutting conditions as the most influencing factors on tool life.
The experimental verification by using the Discrete Functions Taylor tool life equation shows that cutting speed and feed rates, cutting into the factors that influence lifespan of cutting tools.
