Our finding of less QoL impairment among HIV-positive
adults is in contrast to previous finding where significantly
lower QoL was reported among HIV-positive individuals
in South Africa [13]. However, the exclusion criteria
adopted in this study in relation to the severity of the disease
and anxiety may have introduced a selection bias in
favour of less QoL impairment. However, NCS recipients
were twice as likely to have severe impairment of general
health; self-care functioning and QoL. Non-NCS recipients
were twice likely to report severe impairment of physical
function.
