Bio-delignification generally needs long periods of time (Table 6). In a biological pretreatment study with an aim to release the sugars from the lignocellulosic matrix of sugarcane trash using a number of microorganisms it was observed that both cellulose and lignin contents of the raw material can be drastically reduced. Reduction in the cellulose content by Aspergillus terreus was about 55.2% while delignification was found to be about 92% [57].
