Chronic inflammation increases the risk of numerous
pathological conditions, including cardiovascular and
bowel diseases, cancer, diabetes, rheumatoid arthritis, and
neurodegenerative disorders.1 Thus, limiting the frequency
and extent of inflammation represents an effective strategy
for the prevention and treatment of some diseases. However,
the adverse effect of some nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory
drugs has stimulated interest in identifying natural products
for the prevention and treatment of inflammatory disorders.
