Khun Naret –
1. Has MICROs advised you to reboot the server? Reboot the server & have Oracle ready & available when you do this (in case it does not come back online)
a. This may unlock the OXI processors
2. Do you have a record of the sessions & logins performed by Oracle/Micros?
a. The sessions stopped at November 13th – 7:50am; what was done at this time?
3. We do NOT maintain the SQL Plus or Database Passwords – this is supposed to be done by the Hotel; this has been communicated previously. (see sample below)
a. Oracle will need to reset the database & SQLPlus passwords if you do not have them.
i. Ensure Oracle sets these to never expire
b. Once you have the new passwords – write them down for both Oracle Database & SQLPlus
**********************
In readiness for your OPERA upgrade, Oracle will require someone at the Hotel to enter in the new Oracle database password during the upgrade process. This is required as Oracle are not meant to know what the password is for security reasons.
There are 5 Accounts that require an Oracle password to be set; some of these are OPERA related, others are used for back-ups to be performed on the OPERA system. It is recommended the Hotel uses the same password for all 5 accounts when changing the password.
• SYS Non-Opera related account
• SYSTEM Non-Opera related account
• OPERA Opera related account
• OXI Opera related account
• OPERA_TRAIN Opera related account
What rules are required for password complexity?
Passwords must follow these complexity rules as provided by MICROs:
• Passwords must begin with a letter
• Passwords must be at least 8 characters in length
• Passwords must contain at least one letter
• Passwords must contain at least one number
• Passwords must contain at least one of the following special characters: - or _
• A password cannot be one of the last 20 passwords used for that account
• A password cannot be reused within the past 90 days
• The account username may not be contained in the password and vice versa
o Example: The ‘OPERA’ account cannot have a password such as “OPERA1234’
• Password Sample: PropertyCodeMMYY-
o Phth1015-
Please ensure that the password is set to NEVER EXPIRE and also ensure the new password is documented and kept locked away for future reference.
There is no need to notify CHAP IT of the new password as we do not keep records of these. The onus is on the Hotel to keep and store this password.
