Designate a champion
Designate a champion for a process who will have responsibility for the whole process. You will find that
organizations use different terms, sometimes process champion, sometimes process owner or manager.
Sometimes the role is not that of a single individual but of a small team. The message, though, is clear. There
must be responsibility for the process end to end, otherwise unacceptable boundaries can reappear in
processes. This principle can be seen in the management of supply chains with increasing success at
integrating the whole process from procurement to delivery to customers. One important role of the process
owner is to work with other interface processes to minimize the effect of process of the formation of process
silos.
