Professor Holmes is serious and knowledgeable in teaching. He can clearly explain his content by give examples and he has intention to teach. I am impress that his lecture is very systematically, his teaching technique is unique. From the first day of biology class of Professor Holmes, there is an entire section that I like and I don’t like about how he conducted the first class. The part I like, such as Professor Holmes using the question into a lesson. He believes that student can be imagined. He compares to insinuate through idiomatic expression, for example in chapter 1, “There is a well-known idiomatic expression that I would like to share with you: ‘What goes around comes around.’ There’s a direct connection between how we treat nature’s resources today and what we will get back from nature in the future. Think about it. And now, after scaring you with a rather bleak scenario, I will proceed to the main topic for today”. He also had to weave in the idea of water conservation. He urges the student well and he describes the content as an excellent procedure in certain periods. Finally, He allows the student who doesn’t understand the lesson to consult at the professor’s office. The part I don’t like, such as Professor Holmes manages his first class is inefficiency because he is going to jumps right into his first lecture. He explains the content too fast and he ignores that the student will catch up with his lecture. He gives too difficult lecture in the first class and he does regardless of the different backgrounds of the student, thus he frustrate of learning in the first class. He has no teaching media so students can’t comprehend a difficult content. Finally, he reinforces of inspired learning too little.
