The nurse on duty is the one who welcomes the new patient,whether it is a private room, a two-bed room, a four-bed room, or the main ward with eigth or more beds. The nurse normally introduces herself with her first name or (if she prefers it) her by the name she introduced herself with, together with the title, e.g., Nurse Betty, Nurse Rose, Nurse Elisabeth or Nurse Liz, etc. In many countries, nurse are addressed as "Sister" or for example, "Sister Betty" instead of "Nurse".On admission, the nurse on duty welcome the patient and explains to them the use and functions of all furniture,fitting, equipment and devices, the patient with the hospital rules, reminds him/her not to keep valuables in the side tables or cupboards, and also reminds the patient that smoking is strictly forbidden in the room and the hospital.
