Coastal geomorphology is a results of the processes of wind, waves, and currents act upon the sediments to produce a set of landforms. This relationship is described as a process response model. In coastal areas, the process response model is beach profile, which can be refered to as the accumulation of sand that extends from the offshore bar, through the dry beach, and into the adjacent coastal foredune. The beach profile is the sand-sharing system whose components respond to variations in energy level and to sand transport.
