There's been no ransom demand in the case of a kidnapped Haitian boy and the American missionary killed outside of the capital Port-Au-Prince, church officials said Wednesday.
Longtime Haiti-based missionary Roberta Edwards was shot to death by two attackers who cut off her car on a road late on Saturday.
Edwards, 55, was returning from a gas station with three foster children under her care, including 4-year-old Jonathan "JoJo" Paul who the gunmen snatched from the vehicle.
The Estes Church of Christ in Henderson, Tennessee, which sponsored Edwards' work at the Sonlight Children's Home, said her two teenage passengers managed to escape after she told them to run for their lives.
Harold Pirtle, a colleague and friend traveled from Tennessee to comfort the children at the home run by Edwards in Croix-des-Bouquets.
The attack happened near the foster care home and food-distribution site Edwards had run on the outskirts of Port-au-Prince since 2002.
