The dietary range of marine turtles can only be ascertained through a few technical approaches,
including i) tracking, where putative diet can be inferred based on
habitat type at foraging locations and dive metrics indicating foraging
behaviour, ii) stable isotope analysis, where the relative abundance
of heavy isotopes of Nitrogen can indicate dietary trophic
position (McMahon et al., 2013) and iii) gastric lavage (Forbes and
Limpus, 1993).
