CAT Telecom will soon award a mobile virtual network operator contract to Data CDMA Communication - CAT's third MVNO partner for its third-generation cellular service on the 850-megahertz spectrum.
CAT's other MVNOs are Real Move and 168 Communication.
Sanpachai Huvanandana, acting chief executive officer of CAT, said yesterday that the new partner was expected to launch its service next quarter.
CAT is also in talks for possible MVNO deals with Tesco Lotus.
Recently the telecom committee of the National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission declined 168 Communication's request for 4 million phone numbers for its mobile service because the company had no clear strategy to secure targeted users, despite claiming it did.
The committee has asked the company to submit a new business plan.
Natee Panichchewa, chief executive officer of 168 Communication, recently said he had not heard about the request being rejected, saying the process was ongoing.
The company now known as 168 Communication was formerly called 365 Communication, which had worked with TOT 3G. It was re-launched as 168 Communication last month with new owners.
