Xylose and glucose are the main products of the hydrolysis of lignocellulosic materials. These carbohydrates can be used by the oleaginous yeasts isolated from the soil or other natural sources to produce lipid oils. In this paper, the isolation of oleaginous yeasts utilizing xylose from the soil is reported using the glycerol enrichment approach. Also, the lipid-producing capability of oleaginous
yeasts is investigated.
