Tuk Daeng near Khuk Khi Kai is the site of the Phikhat Patchamit Fort built in the reign of King Rama III. It was subsequently turned into living quarters and military command post by the French. A single storey, red-tiled roof building, today it is out of use.
Chanthaburi is home to many historical sites, some located in the same Laem Sing district. One of them is a red building called Tuek Daeng built by the French. It was their headquarters during France's occupation of Chanthaburi from 1893-1903. The single storey structure measuring 32x7 metres comprises five rooms that today serve as an exhibition area showcasing, among other artefacts, an old French cannon, pictures and literature chronicling landmark events and history of Chanthaburi. The cannon bears the logo of an eagle with a snake between its beaks, probably from the arsenal of legendary French conqueror and emperor Napoleon Bonaparte.
