The impacts of invasive species are not, however, limited to wildlife as some invasive plants can have devastating impacts on agriculture and human health: the economic cost of alien plants to South Africa alone is estimated at $646 million per year ($5 billion without current control measures: de Lange and van Wilgen 2010).
