A novel blue-emitting material was prepared by a solution combustion synthesis method followed by heating of the precursor combustion ash at 950◦C in air. These phosphors were characterized using powder XRD. The XRD pattern of all synthesized phosphors is in agreement with the reference. The photoluminescent properties of Ba2Be2B2O7:Pb2+phosphor with different mol ratios of Pb2+were investigated using a spectrofluorometer at room temperature. The emission peak of Ba2Be2B2O7:Pb2+was observed at 396 nm from the 3P1 excited state level to the1S0groundstate upon excitation with 284 nm. The dependence of the emis-sion intensity on the Pb2+concentration for the Ba2Be2B2O7 was studied in detail. It was observed that the concentration quenching of Pb2+in Ba2Be2B2O7is 0.04 mol. Finally, the Stokes shift of Ba2Be2B2O7:Pb2+was calculated to be 9959 cm−1. As a result,Ba2Be2B2O7:Pb2+makes a good phosphor for a light blue emitting application.
