II. DESIGNANDSIMULATION
A. Differential microstrip antenna
The antenna element is based on a typical transmission line
fed microstrip which has two feed points at the edge. The
requirement for a large bandwidth led to a laminated stack-up.
RT/duroid 6002 has been chosen as the PCB material. Its
relatively low permittivity and low dielectric loss results with
high radiation efficiencies and its low thermal expansion
coefficient makes it a suitable candidate for multilayer
fabrication. The design frequency is 45 GHz and the antenna
radiates along non-feeding edges due to its differential
structure.
