A huge moment that changed world history was when the Mongols conquered the Chinese; This led them to control the Silk Road, thus giving the Mongols even more trade throughout their huge empire, this also created a new level to the Mongol people as a whole, by giving them a new religion to follow. By this time in the Mongol Empire, most Mongols were shamanist; however Genghis was very tolerant to the religions his people practiced, so his empire had no set religion. The people who were not shamanist were free from excess taxation and lowered rights, so if you lived after Genghis conquered your lands, you lived an okay life. So, if you look today most of Mongolia is mostly Buddhist, which was most likely a more dominant religion in Genghis’ rule.
