The development of food production, marketing and nutrition have gained "green" trend in the World and in Yugoslavia. Rational, balanced nutrition in Yugoslavia is important because of outstanding disorders in structure of nutrition, reduced agricultural production and relatively low level of food processing capacities. Natural conditions are favourable for the increase of agricultural production. Still, difficult economic conditions determine further increase of the production and marketing of food. However, the trend of development of production, processing and marketing have to be gradual, starting from technical and technologic revitalization of the production to new methods of production and processing (controlled, conventional, integral, organic, sustainable) and appropriate marketing. To achieve what was mentioned above, knowledge and consciousness on necessity of food production for diverse and balanced nutrition of the population and export, achieved by the production that contributes to environment protection, are indispensable.
