Membrane technology has a great potential for
the treatment (e.g. the concentration, fractionation,
and purification of soluble and insoluble materials)
of sea products. Membrane applications in the
seafood industry emerged in the early 80% but an
increase in the number of published studies and
registered patents hints a significant development
in the next years. Paulson et al. [ 11, Belleville and
Quemeneur [2], Almas [3], Jaouen and Quemeneur
[4] and Afonso and Borquez [5] presented reviews
on interesting applications of crossflow membrane
technology in the fishing industry, such as the
wastewater treatment and protein recovery, the
production of fish protein concentrates and
hydrolysates, and the down-stream process
