from the Mg–Nd alloy by reheating the obtained Mg–Nd
alloy at higher temperatures in the range of 1123–1313 K. To
enhance Mg removal efficiency, the obtained Mg–Nd alloy
sample (about 8 g each) was heated at 1123 K for two to six
hours under vacuum, then at 1313 K, and was then slowly
cooled in the furnace. This two stage heat treatment prolongs
the life time of the reaction vessel, and it is effective for
minimizing processing time
