Data analysis. Differences among the three
groups on entry were determined with a between subjects
analysis of variance. Changes in exercise
performance and ankle-brachial indexes after 12 and
24 weeks of training were assessed by a within subjects
analysis of variance. Given the potential for
variability in questionnaire responses and Vitalog
assessments, the changes in these measures from
baseline are expressed as the mean change and the
95% confidence interval of the change. This analysis
allows the reader to better assess the range in
responses for each measure. Correlations were calculated
with the Pearson product-moment correlation
coefficient. Values are reported as mean + SD and
considered significant whenp < 0.05 in a two-tailed
test.
