Individualism: Taiwan scores very low in this field as they are more of a collectivistic society. Most Taiwanese families are extended and very closely connected to other families; therefore, they value being a member of a group a lot and having a bigger social circle means being more successful. This makes Taiwanese people more lenient on following the rules and regulations which could impair their abilities to fully express their opinions and ideas. According to our interview with Eric, he feels that individuality is important and they do value it in times of solidarity but they have to be more collectivistic when interacting with society.
