Therapeutic hypothermia, also known as targeted temperature
management (TTM), has been shown to dramatically
improve outcomes after resuscitation from cardiac
arrest (CA) [1–4]. Given the strength of evidence supporting
the use of TTM for post-arrest care, the International Liaison
Committee on Resuscitation has recommended TTM as a
Class I intervention for comatose patients following out-ofhospital
ventricular fibrillation arrest [5]. Despite this, recent
studies have demonstrated that the judicious uptake and
utilization of TTM may remain inconsistent [6–10].
