Consider the temptation to enrich yourself in a manner that is harmful, unfair, deceptive, etc., to the organization for which you work. When the temptation arises, analyze the situation by asking yourself, Is this the best decision for the organization that I work for? beyond your own organization you must also ask, Is this the right decision for everyone involved? Self-enrichment at your employer's expense, if it is done without the employer's knowledge, will inevitably be a violation of a number of the ethical principles we have covered earlier. It will almost always turn out to be harmful to the greater good; it will also violate the right of others and lead to unjust outcomes. Don't rationalize unethical behavior by thinking, Even if this is not the best organizational decision, it's not so bad and it would really help me out a lot. If your actions in some way pilfer from your employer for your own gain, your behavior is unethical and rationalization of that behavior will not withstand an honest ethical scrutiny.
