Technical tests for penetration in the POC are done by penetration measurement of histidine (an active amino acid in Pantene conditioner formulations) and fatty alcohols (cetyl and stearyl alcohol) from a conditioner and Penetration of panthenol and panthenyl ethyl ether from a shampoo. Pantene conditioners contains histidine and fatty alcohols and all Pantene Pro-V formulations (including shampoos, conditioners and treatments) contain panthenol and panthenyl ethyl ether at a minimum of the tested levels, hence the data are valid for all formulations. Penetration tests are done using radio labeled actives, and detected using visual methods (using lights emitted from radio labeled actives- histidine, fatty alcohols, panthenol and panthenyl ethyl ether). Therefore all the detected levels are solely coming from the products.
