The purposes of this research were to study 1) the development of learning and teaching
English grammar using Mind Mapping activities according to the Communicative Approach 2) the
efficiency of Mind Maps effecting on learning and teaching English grammar and 3) the students’
opinions towards learning and teaching English grammar using Mind Mapping activities.
The participants of the research consisted of 30 first year English major students, English
Program Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences Bansomdejchaopraya Rajabhat University, taking
English Structure I course in the first semester of 2012 academic year.
The sample was selected from a population of 216 students by simple random sampling technique.
The instruction was given in three 50 – minute periods each week for 5 weeks.
The research instruments used for data collection were 1)5 lesson plans using Mind Mapping
activities 2) exercises of each lesson plan and an English grammar achievement test and 3) a set of
questionnaire. The data were statistically analyzed by percentage, mean, standard deviation, and t-test
for dependent (paired – samples test).
