The elite clone IACSP95-3018 (female parent) and the variety IACSP93-3046 (male parent) both from the Sugarcane Breeding Program from Instituto Agroˆ nomico de Campinas were used as parent to develop a segregating population composed by 220 progeny clones. The bi- parental cross was made at the Experimental Station of the Centro de Tecnologia Canavieira-CTC (Camamu-BA, Brazil). IACSP95-3018 is a promising clone used as parent in the breeding program while IACSP93-3046 is a variety released on 2005. IACSP93-3046 has high levels of sucrose, good tillering, erect stool habit, recommended to mechanical harvest and prone environments. The progeny was planted on May 2007 in a randomized complete block design in a plot of 2 m row spaced 1.5 m apart with four replicates. Sugarcane varieties RB835486 and SP81-3250 as also the parents were used as standard checks.
