liquid discharge. The study reveals advanced oxidation
processes and VSEP as most efficient and suitable methods
for the treatment of RO reject. It also concludes that the
efficiency of the advanced treatment processes can be
increased by the combination of conventional methods and
advanced processes or by integrated advanced methods.
Some of these methods are effectively used for the
treatment of tannery effluent. So it can also be used for the
treatment of tannery RO reject due to its similar
characteristics. Integrated Fenton processes are highly
efficient in the removal of toxic pollutants like Cr3+. The
main drawback of these systems is the viability of its
applicability in industrial level due to their operating cost.
Many of these systems have been demonstrated only in
pilot plant scale and laboratories.
