Analytical Paragraph Requirements:
1. A topic sentence that establishes the idea that you believe is being expressed
2. Introduce specific evidence that supports the idea you believe is being expressed. Make sure
before you go into the evidence that you provide context.
3. Analyze the evidence you provided. This commentary should explain not only what the evidence
you gave means, but also how it relates to your main idea.
4. Concluding statement. Don’t simply restate your main idea, but tie up everything you wrote into a
cohesive, thoughtful statement.
