Method Hypotheses II and III. Two statistical tests were applied to test hypotheses two and three. The two measures were used in order to determine whether diminished Vocabulary and Verbal Fluency, and Memory and Concentration skills, rather than General Comprehension and Judgment and Reasoning, would account for a decline in a student's gifted status from kindergarten to the fifth grade level. An analysis of variance was used to examine the significance of pre to posttest change on all four dimensions, except Total I.Q., since they were based in a common metric through use of the standard intelligence quotient formula based on the ratio of mental age to chronological age. Multiple t-tests were used to examine the four specific dimensions measured by the S-BIS, as well as the Total I.Q. score.
