In this article, we build upon Tulving’s conception
of episodic memory
1and introduce what we term
‘episodic future thinking’. We argue that episodic
future thinking represents an important organizing
construct in considering current research in
psychology. In particular, we apply the construct of
episodic future thinking to research in: (1) Cognitive;
(2) Social and Personality; (3) Clinical; (4) Neuro-;
and (5) Developmental psychology.
