While the Republic of Seychelles is comprised of 115 islands off the coast of East Africa in the Indian Ocean, only a few of those islands are actually inhabited. Most of the population, known as Seychellois, live on the inner islands: Mahé, Praslin, La Digue, Silhouette Island, and Inner Corallines. What about drinks, you ask? Seychelles has a variety of traditional drinks. Alcoholic drinks include kalou, a palm wine made of coconut sap. Another popular drink in Seychelles is bacca rum, which is made from sugar cane and used in ceremonial events. Coco d’Amour is a tropical coconut liqueur that is made with coconut extract. Local beer includes Ekyu and locally brewed Seybrew. While all of these sound amazingly delicious and refreshing, please note that drinking in public is prohibited. Womp.
