In order to obtain initial hints on the validity of the questionnaire, we determined correlations between the teacher goal scales and teacher self-efficacy, self-esteem, emotional exhaustion, and life satisfaction. The correlations in Table 5 are largely in line with our hypotheses: Self-efficacy is significantly positively correlated with 10 goal scales; self-esteem is
positively correlated with 9 goal scales. It is striking that in each case significant correlations can be identified only where goals are directly related to teaching and not to aspirations regarding one’s own person.
