Post-test 1: Refraction of water waves
Post-test 1 follows the basic outline described above. The waves are generated by a dowel moving back and forth at a steady rate (see Fig.2). Students are reminded that water waves travel more quickly in deep water than in shallow water.
In experiment 1, a periodic wave is generated in the right region of deep water. Students are asked to compare the transmitted wavelength in the left region with the incident wavelength.
