Developed by Israel Aircraft Industries with assistance from DASA and Alcatel Espace, the 500 kg-class AMOS 1 (Affordable Modular Optimized Satellite) will carry 7 Ku-band transponders (plus two spares) for Eurasian communications services.
In 2009 the satellite was sold to Intelsat, which will use it from an inclined orbit under the designation Intelsat 24.
