Information which forms the basis of decision making must be trustworthy to be useful. On the
other hand, uncertainty is an inevitable phenomenon in the real world situations and thus, most
of the information on which decision making process is based suffers from uncertainty. Humans
are amazingly capable of making rational decisions based on uncertain, ambiguous, imprecise
and/or incomplete information. It seems to be a challenging task to formalize this competence at
least to some degree. The petrochemical industry faces the challenge of improving
competitiveness while also enhancing safety and environmental performance. For any
petrochemical complex with many plants, there are many sources of uncertainty and frequent
variations which require more attention. Making important decisions in the petroleum industry
requires incorporation of major uncertainties, long time horizons, multiple alternatives
