Yes, this is a kind of the project that we would regard as a good and "innovative" project for high school students. When you have a proposal done, please send it to me and I will give more suggestions.
Please keep parts of the rice leave at different stages of the development in a desiccator. Please keep them in a small zip bags labelled appropriately with dates and other information. We will examine them under a Scanning Electron Microscope at Silpakorn University. You will get more information in addition to beautiful SEM micrographs. You may see nice patterns of silicon bodies as well.
We can do the wavelength scan of the anthocyanin using a UV-VIS spectrophotometer here, also. You will see a nice spectrum with a maximum absorption at a wavelength. Please keep the solution in dark at 4 degree. This project will be suitable for presentation at the TJ-SSF 2015 in December.
If some of your friends would like to work with microalgae of Phetchaburi, Dr. Thanyanan at Biology Silpakorn University would be happy to help. The students can come to use all facilities in her lab here.
If some of your friends would like to work with animal cell lines, Dr. Jandee at Biology Silpakorn University would be happy to help. The students can come to use all facilities in her lab here, also. She will let you test the effects of plant extracts on animal cell lines. But students need to come here quite often :) If your friends have a medicinal plants in mind, the test with cell lines would be a really nice research project.
