MICHIGAN CITY — Some people visiting Lighthouse Place Premiums Outlets had, on Saturday, already found some ideas for a good new year's resolution in 2016.
Alex Perham of Chesterton said, "I think my new year's resolution is to be more creative and kind to other people."
He said Jim Henson, creator of the Muppets, inspires him because he was both creative and kind, and Perham always aspires to Henson's example.
Joanne Moran of Chicago knew her resolution would sound a bit ironic. She wants to shop less.
Leslie Purkal said she writes her own songs and is working on one now. Her new year's resolution is to sing for her sister on her birthday because her sister was born on Jan. 1.
However, she might sing a popular hit song for her sister's birthday.
Rachel Mirkin of Lafayette said her new year's resolution is to have better work-life balance, like "trying not to answer email after work hours."
Jim Knight of Charlotte, North Carolina, said, although he used to play professional baseball, he cannot play at all now because he has not been in shape in years. He still coaches his son's baseball team, but this might be the year he goes back to playing.
"I got to get back in athlete shape," he said about his new year's resolution.
Sierra Fillmore plays on the track team at Penn High School in Mishawaka and, although she has not made an definite resolution yet, said her idea is to focus on doing better at track.
Likewise, Allison Thomas of Michigan City High School said she has not made a resolution yet, but she thinks it might be to do better at her studies and at the high school swim team.
Keefer Lee of Silver Lake said, "Make it the best year ever."
Other plans included more common resolutions, like quiting smoking, eating less, staying healthy and being more positive.
